Antagon Uses

Antagon is used as part of a treatment procedure for a number of fertility complications which usually occur in women. Ganirelix is combined with other hormones in order to make it more effective.  This medication works to block the release of the luteinizing hormone and hence helps to delay the ovulation process and to also increase the probability of producing fertile eggs. This medication should not be used if the patient is allergic to ganirelix. The drug should not be administred to patients who are already pregnant and hence it is advisable to have a pregnancy test done before using the drug.

Antagon Dosage

Ganirelix dosage will vary depending on the individual that is using it. Always follow doctors instructions when using this drug. When using Ganirelix, the follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) should be administered on the second or third day of the natural menstrual cycle. Ganirelix is then administered on the 7th or 8th day. Ganirelix treatment is then continued until your doctor observes an adequate amount of follicle maturity and only after that is the human chronic gonadotropin introduced into the treatment.

  • The required dosage for an adult is 0.25 mg once in a day. It is advisable to administer in the upper thigh or in the abdomen around the navel because it is by far the most convenient method.
