Aler-Tab Uses

Aler-Tab is a medication used to dismiss signs of allergic reactions, hay fever as well as the common flu. Aler-Tab works by blocking the histamine produced by the body during an allergic reaction. To effectively halt symptoms such as watery eyes and the runny nose, Aler-Tab blocks acetylcholine, a natural substance produced by the body, where the aftermath is a drying effect.

Furthermore, Aler-Tab stops and treats vomiting, nausea and giddiness triggered by motion sickness. Aler-Tab is also widely used to aid in relaxation and help the patient fall asleep. Last but not least, Aler-Tab treats various symptoms caused by Parkinson's disease such as muscle stiffness.

Aler-Tab Dosage

Aler-Tab comes is available in the form of a tablet, capsule or in liquid form. Due to the risks associated with use of cough medications on children, Aler-Tab should not be administered to children under the age of six years. For children older than six years, teenagers and adults, the Aler-Tab dosage is administered depending on the age, health condition as well as response to medication. Aler-Tab is best administered with a dosage measuring spoon or cup. In order to effectively prevent motion sickness, Aler-Tab is administered 30 minutes before travelling and the same time frame is recommended to aid in sleeping i.e. take Aler-Tab 30 minutes prior to bedtime.


  • Give 25-50 mg 3-4 times daily. The sleep-aid prescription is 50 mg

Pediatric Patients

  • Give 12.5-25 mg 3-4 times daily and not exceeding 300 mg.
  • Calculated on the basis of body weight, the suggested dosage is 5mg/kg/24 hours which is also the same as 150 mg/m2/24 hours

Aler-Tab Side Effects

Aler-Tab has been identified to cause side effects in certain patients. These side effects differ in their gravity meaning that some patients will experience serious side effects while others will have minor to none at all. In case you experience the severe side effects, seek medical assistance immediately but the minor side effects normally go away after sometime.
