Alenaze Uses

Alenaze is used in the treatment of symptoms of common cold or the seasonal allergies that include itchy, runny nose, sneezing and watery eyes. The combination of the two drugs Brompheniramine and Phenylephrine.

Brompheniramine functions as an antihistamine whose purpose is to reduce the effect of histamine a natural chemical released by the body. Phenylephrine functions as a decongestant whose purpose is to shrink the blood vessels in the nasal passages.

Blood vessels that are dilated cause nasal congestion leading to a stuffy nose.  The drug is also used in the medication of other medical conditions under the prescription of a doctor.

Alenaze Dosage

Usual adult dosage for Allergic Rhinitis

Brompheniramine-phenylephrine 12 mg-15 mg oral capsule, extended release;

  • Take 1 capsule for every 12 hours

Children

Brompheniramine-phenylephrine 1 mg-2.5/5 ml oral liquid

  • 6-11 years should take 10 ml for every 4-6 hours daily and should not exceed 60 ml daily
  • 12 years or older should take 20 ml for every 4-6 hours daily and should not exceed 120 ml daily
