Albuminar-25 is defined as a sterile aqueous solution containing albumin. Albumin is a globular, water soluble protein. Albuminar-25 is obtained using different processes, such as the Cohn process, from adult human blood plasma obtained directly from veins. This is a brand and the generic version is albumin human. It belongs to the natural plasma protein class of medicines.

Albuminar-25 use is mainly in emergency situations. This medicine is used in the treatment of shock due to various causes as well as in therapeutic applications. Doctors usually prescribe Albuminar-25 use in the following instances;
- Treatment of shock due to burns
- Surgical operations
- In situations where blood volume restoration is urgent
- Treatment of hypoproteinemia
It is highly recommended that Albuminar-25 be administered intravenously in clinical setup under a doctor’s supervision. It is indicated for the treatment of severe injuries where blood is urgently required in sufficient volumes.
Albuminar-25 dosage is administered intravenously with or without dilution. Dilution can be done using 5% dextrose or just normal saline. Dosage is dependent upon a number of factors such as the patient’s age, condition being treated and so on. The following is the recommended dosage as advised by doctors.
- 200 Ml per liter gives an appropriate solution which is isotonic and iso-osmotic
- Recommended daily Albuminar-25 dose is 2g per kg of body weight
- 25g should be administered fir 30 minutes in adults to increase blood volume
- 50 – 75g for treatment of burns and hypoalbuminemia
Before administration of Albuminar-25, the products should be visually examined and inspected for discoloration and turbidity.
