Aggrastat is also used in combination with heparin to treat various types of heart attacks. Aggrastat works by blocking platelets which prevent them from sticking together thus forming blood clots.
However, Aggrastat may also be used for other purposes as determined by the doctor. Do not use this medication if you are allergic to it or any ingredient in it. Also, avoid using Aggrastat in case you have a history of stroke, major surgery or physical trauma. Consult the doctor first before using this medication to be monitored.

Aggrastat dosage is administered through intravenous injection. Dosage varies with the age and different types of patients. This medication should only be used following the doctors' instructions. Follow the doctor's indications to avoid overdose. Do not start, stop or change Aggrastat dosage. The dosage should not be shared with anyone else with the same symptoms. Inform your doctor if you are allergic to any medicine to be monitored.
- 25 mcg/kg: administer intravenously within 5 minutes followed by;
- 0.15 mcg/kg/min for patients with creatinine clearance greater than or equal to 60 mL/min
- Continue up t 18 hours

- fast or irregular heartbeat
- Abdominal or stomach pain or swelling
- Bleeding gums
- lightheadedness or fainting
- pinpoint red spots on the skin
- severe, unusual tiredness or weakness
- slow heartbeat
