Xalatan is used for the treatment of high pressure in the eyes, known as IOP or intra ocular pressure for patients with a condition known as ocular hypertension or open angle glaucoma. Xalatan dosage is dependent on the individual that it is being administered to. The following dosage is an average dose and could differ among individuals. Follow your medical professional's directions for best results.
Xalatan ophthalmic solution comes prepared at 50 g/ml and 2.5ml. It should be kept at room temperature with ranges between 15 to 30 C.
- The recommended dose is usually one drop in the affected eye or eyes once every day, usually in the evening.
If one Xalatan dose is missed, patient should proceed with the dose as usual but should not try to make up for the missed dose. Xalatan dosage should not exceed one eye drop per affected eye(s) per day. Patients are advised to use Xalatan exactly as directed by the physician. Use of Xalatan should not stop and dose should not change without express authority of a doctor. Patients should expect to notice a difference in the eye pressure within 3 to 4 hours after Xalatan administration. Maximum relief should be attained within a period of 8 to 12 hours.
Xalatan Side Effects
