Vidaza Uses

Vidaza medication is used to treat a group of blood and bone disorders that are known as myelodysplastic syndromes-MDS, in which the bone marrow in the patient is incapable of producing enough healthy blood cells for the body. Patients that have MDS mostly suffer from conditions like infections, asthma, easy bleeding and bruising. Vidaza is a chemotherapy medication. Vidaza functions by helping the patient's bone marrow to produce or rather grow normal blood cells resulting to fewer blood transfusions for the patient. Vidaza also works by killing abnormal blood cells that have grown too fast or are not working properly. Vidaza is administered by injection under the skin or into a vein by a physician or healthcare practitioner.

Vidaza medication is used to treat a group of blood and bone disorders that are known as myelodysplastic syndromes-MDS, in which the bone marrow in the patient is incapable of producing enough healthy blood cells for the body. The dosage for patients that have conditions of myelodysplastic syndrome subtypes like refractory anemia or refractory anemia with ringed sideroblasts the initial dose should be 75 mg /m2 subcutaneously or intravenously for seven days for every four weeks. The maintenance dose for these conditions may be increased to 100 mg /m2 if no beneficial effect is seen after two treatment cycles and if no toxicity or rather no other than nausea or vomiting has occurred. Patients are recommended to get treated for a minimum of four cycles.
