Vibramycin Uses

The active component of Vibramycin, doxycycline, goes through the bacteria's lipid bilayer because it has lipophilic properties. Doxycycline can bind reversibly on the 50s ribosomal subunit and the 30s ribosomal subunit, which stops the aminoacyl-tRNA from binding to the mRNA. This inhibits the synthesis of protein, which is important for bacterial survival, hence killing bacteria. Vibramycin can also inhibit the action of apicoplast, a plastid present in Plasmodium, that is essential for its survival. These properties aid Vibramycin to treat the following diseases; Chronic Prostatitis, Lyme disease, Pelvic inflammatory disease, Rickettsial infections, Sinusitis, Bacterial and a few others. Unnecessary use or misuse of any antibiotic can make it less effective.

  • Bacterial Infections

Vibramycin Dosage

In order for Vibramycin to reach its efficacy, the dosage prescribed by your doctor should be followed strictly. Vibramycin is better administered orally at least one hour before food. If you are taking anything that has a lot of calcium, it is better that you take Vibramycin at least two hours after. This is because calcium reduces its efficacy.
