Chronic lymphocytic anemia is a type of cancer that affects the blood and the bone marrow. This type of anemia is common in older adults. While most people affected by chronic lymphocytic anemia have no early symptoms, those who develop signs and symptoms may experience enlarged lymph nodes, fatigue, night sweats and frequent infections. Gazyva works by interfering with the activities and multiplication of cells that cause cancer in the body.
Seek your doctor's advice before using Gazyva if you have ever had hepatitis B since the drug can cause a reoccurrence of the condition. Gazyva is indicated for;

Gazyva is used as directed by the doctor. The Gazyva dose may be different from one patient to the other depending on the severity of the condition being treated. The doctor may base the dosage on other factors such as the patient's weight, age, medical history and response to treatment. The amount of Gazyva to be used depends on the strength of the drug.
- Gazyva usual dose, Administered at 25 mg/hr over 4 hours. Do not increase the infusion rate
If you miss a Gazyva dose, use it at the next available opportunity. However, if it is about time for the second dose, skip the missed dose and go back to the normal schedule. If a Gazyva dose is missed, you should contact your doctor immediately so that he or she may advise on the next course of action.
Gazyva Side Effects
Gazyva is associated with some side effects, just like any other medicine. However, not everyone will experience the side effects. It is thus imperative to consult your doctor if these listed common side effects become persistent.
- Loss of appetite
Contact your doctor immediately if the following severe side effects occur:
- Severe headaches
- Increased urination
- Blurred vision
- Problems swallowing
