It is also used in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Fluoxetine Hcl belongs to the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class of drugs, meaning it increases serotonin concentrations between nerves.
This is believed to enhance the mood of patients with psychiatric disorders. Fluoxetine Hcl is only available via the oral route and is mostly metabolized in the liver.
