Ery-Tab Uses

Ery-Tab can be used to treat or prevent streptococcal pharyngitis and in the long-term prophylaxis of rheumatic fever. This medication is also used in a regimen for prophylaxis against bacterial endocarditis in patients hypersensitive to penicillin who have congenital heart disease. Ery-Tab can also be used to treat acute infections of the skin and soft tissue of mild to moderate severity. Resistant organisms may emerge during treatment. This drug also is used for treatment of the following infections caused by Chlamydia trachomatis: pneumonia of infancy and urogenital infections during pregnancy, conjunctivitis of the newborn.

Ery-Tab Dosage

Below you will find the basic dosage of Ery-Tab, but depending on the medical history and the patient's medical condition, a doctor may prescribe a different regimen. A patient should not stop taking their medication or change their dosage without a doctor's approval.

  • Usual dose for an adult is 250 mg four times a day in equally spaced doses.
  • The 333 mg tablet is recommended if dosage is desired every after every 8 hours.
  • If the dosage is needed to be taken twice a day, the recommended dose is 500 mg every 12 hours.
  • The dosage can be increased to 4 g per day according to the severity of the infection. It is not recommended, however, to give the dosage twice-a-day if the doses are larger than 1 g daily.
  • There are factors that are considered when giving Ery-Tab dosage to children such as weight, age, and severity. The usual starting dosage is 30 to 50 mg per kg in a day, in equally divided doses. If the infections are severe, the dose may be doubled but should not exceed 4 g per day.

Ery-Tab Side Effects
