Demadex Uses

Demadex is used by healthcare experts to treat extra fluid in the body that is normally caused by conditions like, heart failure, kidney disease, or liver failure. Demadex can also be used to lessen the symptoms such as shortness of breath, swellings of the abdomen, arms, and legs. The drug is also effective in treating high blood pressure. The medication works by lowering the high blood pressure in the patient's body preventing strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Demadex is a water pill, and it normally causes the body to make more urine. This makes it easy for your body to get rid of extra salt and water. The patient should take Demadex as directed by a physician. This medication is to be taken orally with or without food.

Demadex Dosage

Demadex is used to treat edema that is associated with the kidney, heart, liver failure or conditions. The medication is usually taken once daily. The patient should avoid taking the medication within four hours of bedtime; this is to prevent having to get up to urinate. The dosage of the medication also depends on the response and condition of the patient.

Congestive Heart Failure

  • Initial dosage of Demadex: 20 mg to be taken once daily. If the diuretic response is inadequate, the dosage should be titrated upward by doubling the dose until the diuretic response is obtained. The single doses of up to 200 mg have not yet been adequately studied by medical practitioners.

Chronic Renal Failure

  • Initial dosage of Demadex: 20 mg should be taken by the patient once daily. If the response is inadequate, the dosage should then be titrated upwards by doubling until the required diuretic response it obtained.
