Claravis (isotretinoin) is a medication used to treat cystic acne also referred to as nodular acne. The drug is given after all other medication fails treat the infection. Claravis is a retinoid or a form of vitamin A, and it works by reducing facial oil or sebum production. Excess sebum production by the oil glands is the main cause of acne. It works on the skin’s oil glands where it inhibits production of more oil. Less oil helps the skin to renew itself quickly thus preventing the possibilities of leaving scars. Claravis is supplied in the form of capsules, liquid or compounding powder and thus, its administration will differ depending on the form that is available.
